• The driveway is excavated to a depth of 250 mm.

 

• The sub-base consists of 150 mm compacted limestone hardcore.

 

• The base consists of approximately 30 mm compacted and screeded river sand.

 

• The block paving (typically 50/60 mm) is swept in with kiln dried sand and then a jointing sand stabilising solution is used.

 

• All free edges of the driveway are concreted in to retain the hardcore, sand and block, not merely “haunched” after the blocks have been laid.

• Patios are excavated to a depth of 150 mm.

 

• The sub-base consists of 100 mm compressed hardcore.

 

• The Flags are laid on a full bed of  mortar.

 

• All natural stone Flags are wet pointed with a 3:1, sand : cement mix using additives to combat adverse weather conditions.
